Privacy Policy

This policy covers the Bones app (Mr. Skully Bones) from Fitamatic, LLC. Bones runs a talking skeleton on someone’s porch, so most people it hears are visitors, not the person who installed the app. We built it to collect as little as possible. Questions: pmurphyjam@fitamatic.com.

Visitors to the skeleton

• Speech: what visitors say is turned into text on the phone itself. Audio recordings are never sent or stored. The text is sent to our server to generate the skeleton’s reply.
• Camera: the phone takes still snapshots to notice when people walk up. It detects only that a person is present; there is no face detection, no identification and no tracking between visits.
• Costumes: when someone arrives, up to three cropped, downscaled snapshots per visit (at least five seconds apart) are sent so the AI can comment on costumes. They are held in memory, used once and discarded. They are never saved to the phone, our servers or anywhere else, and the skeleton never describes faces, bodies, age or appearance.
• Live preview: a small, low-frame-rate preview is sent only while the owner has the remote console open, and is never stored.

The app owner

• Your sign-in account (email, or your Apple or Google account identifier) and your app settings, such as characters, audience and special-guest names you enter.
• Diagnostic information about connection quality and errors, used to keep the skeleton working.

Service providers

Our server runs on Amazon Web Services in the United States. Replies are generated by Anthropic Claude through Amazon Bedrock and spoken with Amazon Polly. These providers process the text and costume snapshots only to produce the reply. We do not sell personal information and we do not use it for advertising.

Children

Bones is meant to be set up and operated by adults. Children may talk to the skeleton; their speech is converted to text on the device, nothing they say is stored as audio, and costume snapshots are never kept. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices

• Turn the camera off at any time in the app or remote console; it also turns off whenever the app leaves the foreground.
• Turn conversation off and use preset lines only.
• To delete your account and settings, email pmurphyjam@fitamatic.com.
